DAMODAR (KARTIK) MONTH
The most auspicious month of Damodar or Kartik is from Oct 6 to Nov 3, 2017.
The month of Damodar or Kartik is extremely special to Lord Krishna. This is His favorite month, because it is the month of Srimati Radharani, His eternal consort. She is Kartika Devi, who transforms the hearts of all with divine bhakti, and is especially merciful during the month of Kartik ( Damodar month).
It is said in the Padma Purana that the effect of performing a Kartik Vrata or Damodar Puja lasts for one hundred lifetimes. The pastime of mother Yashoda binding Lord Krishna took place during this month, and as a consequence, Lord Krishna was named Damodar, He who can only be bound by the ropes of Love. To commemorate this pastime, the Sri Damodarastaka, a song from the Padma Purana, is sung daily in Vaishnava homes. It is highly auspicious to recite this song and offer lamps to Lord Krishna in any home to welcome the Lord and His blessings with open arms.
During this month, ISKCON of Houston is celebrating the Damodar month by conducting Damodar Yajna programs at two venues:
1. At the temple
The program will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. daily; at which time we offer lamps as we perform the Damodarastaka prayers. We invite all of our devotees and congregation community to join us daily for this program. Anyone interested in contributing in this program may contact HG Rasikendra Das by completing the form.

2. Home program
The Damodar Yajna is a simple one hour program. You can invite devotees to your home to perform this program. This program consists of: Singing of Sri Damodarastaka – Glories of Lord Damodar and Reading the translation of Sri Damodarastaka
