Janmashtami Costume Contest Registration 2026

Rules to participate in ISKCON of Houston & Hindus of Greater Houston Costume Contest 2026

Theme for 2026: Natkhat Krishna & Radha

Each participant requires registration. Three age groups for contest are:

  • Group A – 0 – 3 years
  • Group B – 3 to 6 years
  • Group C – 6 to 12 years
  1. Contest is open for all participants. They MUST dress in a costume pertaining to the theme “Natkhat Krishna & Radha”
  2. All contestants must report and reconfirm their participation at the Costume Contest registration counter at Temple between 6:15 pm – 6:45 pm.
  3. ALL THE PARTICIPANTS HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GO ON STAGE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  4. Only one parent may accompany with participant (who cannot walk) from age Group A onto the stage.
  5. Participant in Group B & C age group have to walk on the stage by themselves.
  6. If there is more than 1 participant combined for presentation, judging will be done based on combine act & costume. (And if that presentation wins, then only 1 trophy will be allocated).
  7. Participant must keep number label at appropriate location allocated to them. If the number tag is lost then there is no second tag provided.
  8. PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE THEIR NUMBER TAG. NO TAG = NO PARTICIPATION.
  9. We do not allow performance, speeches or singing by contestants. Microphone system is not arranged for participants on the stage.
  10. No music will accompany the child while he/she walks on stage.
  11. The judges will have the sole and complete authority and discretion to select the winners in each category. Their decision will be final.
  12. Parents will not be allowed to see the score sheets.
  13. You (parents and participants) will need to remain in the hall throughout the costume contest to be eligible for an award.
  14. After all costumes have been paraded; the contestants will be called on stage for a group picture at the end of the costume contest which will be used for advertising. The Participants have to be near the stage till the end of the contest. They will have to quickly send the Participants (kids) to the stage when called. Participants who are not in a costume at that point will not be allowed on stage for the group picture.
